Mary Yahuz-Pratt

School mount morris Jr. High

My teacher Mrs. Yahuz-Pratt is an awesome teacher and deserves appreciation because she is really caring for the students, staff, and all those around her. Mrs.Y. is a band teacher at Mt. Morris Jr. High. She teaches grades 6th-8th. She also teaches a Jazz Band at the Jr. High and High School.(which I'm in). She is a really good band teacher and is very dedicated. Not only is she a very dedicated teacher, she is a very dedicated mom. When I need help she is willing to take time after school and help me with what i need help with. Mrs. Y. teaches the High school Jazz Band in the morning before high school starts and then she comes over to the Junior high and is ready to teach by 7:30-ish a.m. Mrs. Y. works hard to make sure the kids (including me) have what they need. She also spends a lot of time getting our band concerts and festivals ready. I can't even begin to say or tell how much she cares about everyone. She has been such a help and honor to be in my life and no matter what obstacles get thrown at her she will just toss the obstacles out of her way so she can keep helping me and the other kids. What I have learned by watching her is that always be a friend to others, care for others and help those in need of help. She makes it possible for those with lower incomes to have an instrument to play. She has to deal with a lot of disruptive kids on a daily basis. Money with the school district is tight, but she is able to repair a lot of the instruments which helps the families save on a repair bill. She does so much behind the scenes that I would like to nominate her for Teacher Appreciation Week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This woman is tireless. I'm pretty sure she spends most of her time away from school doing things for her class. She spends a lot of her own money and hardly ever asks for anything from the parents of her students. She also does some really cool projects like making tin can stilts after reading a book that the characters in it had used them. Honestly she is by far the best teacher anyone could ask for. If anyone deserves a gift card for Staples it is her!

School INTER-AMERICAN SCHOOL-GUATEMALA

MY DAUGHTER WAS TEACHING IN GUATEMALA FOR 3 YRS. SHE CAME BACK TO THE STATES LAST FALL TO PAY OFF HER STUDENT LOANS SO SHE COULD HOPEFULLY RETURN TO TEACH THERE. SHE FOUND OUT ABOUT A MONTH AGO THAT SHE WILL BE RETURNING TO TEACH 2ND GRADE. SHE IS VERY EXCITED. THIS WILL BE HER 4TH YR. SHE LOVES OUR LORD AND LOOKS TO HIM TO GIVE HER DIRECTION AND SHE FOLLOWS THE PATH THAT HE LAYS OUT FOR HER.

IT ALL STARTED WHEN SHE WENT ON A MISSION TRIP TO GUATEMALA AND THEN FOUND THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO AND TEACH. WHEN SHE WENT ON THE NEXT MISSION TRIP SHE STAYED AND THAT WAS HER FIRST YR.

HER WAGES ARE ABOUT 50.00 A MONTH AND SHE THRIVES TO HELP ANYWAY SHE CAN.

I FEEL VERY PROUD OF HER DECISION AND SUPPORT HER 100 PERCENT. THEY SURE COULD USE THE HELP WITH THE CARD SO SHE CAN BUY SUPPLIES FOR YET ANOTHER YEAR OF TOUCHING THE LIVES OF THOSE CHILDREN.

THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOUR MINISTRY

Mrs. Funchion is my daughter Courtney's 3rd Grade teacher. Words can not begin to express how I feel about this wonderful lady. As a parent it breaks your heart when your child is falling behind in school. For the past 3 years Courtney has struggled to stay up with academic requirements for each grade and to be honest Mrs. Funchion was what I believe was God's answer to my prayers. We started this school year like any other but from the beginning I knew something was very different. Courtney was eager to go to school each day and her papers began coming home with satisifactory or above marks. I know I wasn't doing anything different but someone had made a huge impact on Courtney. She had been receiving extra help in reading and math for both 1st & 2nd grade and was still struggling in those subjects. Well much to my surprise Courtney was not even recommended for extra help in math or reading for 3rd Grade! Now, her teacher really had my attention. I began asking Courtney what is was that was making things finally click and she began to tell me about Mrs. Funchion! She explained how she made learning fun. How she did different learning games to master their spelling words each week. She spoke of how she showed her different techniqes for math that turned on the light bulb for Courtney. What was such a struggle in the past became easy. I Thank God for Mrs. Funchion. Her love for children & dedication to learning has made a huge impact on my daughter and many others in her class. If all teachers were like her the world would be a better place. I have never entered anyone for an award before but Mrs. Funchion has forever impacted my daughter and we will never forget her! My prayer is for God's blessings to be upon her always! Forever Grateful

Mrs. Olson is a GREAT teacher. She really loves her job and is good at it. It really seems like she loves the kids. When she is showing them something new she explans it, she show tons and tons of examples. She really trys her best to make math fun. But the kids just don't behave, they lose the notebooks she just freely gives them. They waste her paper. Steal her pens. break her pencils. Lose her folders, AND SHE GETS IT ALL FROM STAPLES. Mrs. Olson is a Great teacher.

Mrs Kelly Stevens

School Washington Elementary

Mrs Stevens is a media teacher meaning she has to have eyes in the back of her head or split herself in half. As media teacher she is responsible to teach a lesson for the class in the computer lab as well as watch the class while they are in the library checking out books at the same time. Granted they are next door to each other but she still can't see through a wall. Mrs Stevens is a good christian woman and truely loves kids, you can see it in her face and attitude every day. Even though she only sees each class one time a week she does everything she can to relate to the kids and let them know she cares. I believe by the love and effort she puts forth for these kids everyday that she should win this contest.
